About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Hospice Residence team at Langley Memorial Hospital. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients, assessing their physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs, and developing and implementing care plans to meet their unique needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients, using a variety of sources to inform your practice.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Act as an advocate for patients, promoting their autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
  • Document timely and accurate reports of patient observations, teaching, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, identifying patient care issues and collecting data to inform practice changes.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff, adhering to established safety and emergency practices and procedures.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and/or Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Two years' recent, related medical nursing experience in an acute care facility, including one year recent related experience in a hospice/palliative care environment.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
