Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients, promoting person-centered and recovery-oriented care.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients, identifying actual or potential problems and strengths through nursing diagnosis.
- Actively participate in and support the total therapeutic program of the Unit, collaborating with the interprofessional care team to promote patient-centered care.
- Collect information from various sources, using skills of observation, communication, and physical assessment to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care.
- Write timely and accurate reports of relevant assessments and observations, including patient and family education and evaluation of nursing care.
- Communicate and consult with members of the healthcare team about patients' care, setting priorities, assigning, and delegating tasks to support staff.
- Act as an advocate to protect and promote patients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting data.
- Participate as an active member on nursing and hospital committees and councils for improvement of patient care and/or work environment.
- Participate in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff and students, providing information and acting as a preceptor or mentor as appropriate.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to established safety and emergency practices and procedures.
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). May require completion of a substance use certificate program.
