About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Harvesting Labourer to join our team at The Hungry Vegan House Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply the technique of hoeing between rows to ensure optimal crop growth and yield.
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Clear fields of wood and stones to prepare them for planting and harvesting.
  • Cultivate on vertical farming systems to maximize crop production and efficiency.
  • Cut agricultural crops according to farm standards to ensure high-quality produce.
  • Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, color, and volume to fetch high prices in the market.
  • Perform greenhouse cleaning and maintenance to ensure a healthy and productive growing environment.
  • Hand harvest vegetables and other crops to ensure they are handled with care and precision.
  • Harvest seedlings and other crops to ensure they are ready for market.
  • Level earth to fine-grade specifications to prepare it for planting and harvesting.
  • Monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns to ensure optimal growing conditions.
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops to ensure maximum yield and quality.
  • Seed cutting and other tasks as required to maintain a healthy and productive farm.
  • Shear and shape trees and plants with a knife to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth.
  • Sort fruits and vegetables according to their quality and grade.
  • Tie and secure plants to prevent damage and promote healthy growth.
  • Weeding and other tasks as required to maintain a healthy and productive farm.
  • Clean work areas and equipment to maintain a safe and clean environment.

Requirements
  • Experience in agricultural laboring or a related field is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Organized and able to work as part of a team.
  • Experience an asset, but not required.
  • Permanent employment opportunity.
  • 40 hours per week.
