The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Camp Leader to deliver a high-quality summer children's camp program to registered participants.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver a comprehensive summer camp program that meets the needs and interests of children aged 4-12.
- Supervise and manage program activities, including lunch, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Act as a positive role model and provide guidance and support to program participants and other summer staff.
- Implement the philosophies of HIGH FIVE and ensure that all program activities are aligned with these principles.
- Work collaboratively with other summer staff to plan and implement camp activities, including arts and crafts, drama, and fitness programs.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure that all participants' needs are met.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of camp activities, including active games, swimming, and water play.
- Demonstrate energy and enthusiasm for the program activities and take the lead on activities and programs as needed.
- Preference will be given to those enrolled in secondary or post-secondary education in recreation or child/youth education.
- Experience working with children between the ages of 4 and 12 is highly desirable.
- Previous experience as a Camp Leader or in a similar camp environment is an asset.
- Current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR (WSIB approved) is required.
- Certification with the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development is also required.
- Bending: frequent stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching, squatting (up to 22.73 kgs or 50 lbs).
- Walking: frequent walking on rough surface; constant walking on level surface.
- Reaching: frequent reaching above shoulder, below shoulder, forward, backward, handling (up to 22.73 kgs or 50 lbs).
- Lifting: frequent lifting at shoulder, carrying, transferring; constant lifting floor to waist, waist to shoulder (up to 22.73 kgs or 50 lbs).
- Standing: frequent standing inside, outside.
- Hands: frequent fine finger dexterity (movement).
