About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Technologist, Interventional Angiography to join our team at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. This is a casual opportunity to work with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals who are dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform interventional and angiography procedures in accordance with established procedures, including completing requisitions and related paperwork, entering patient information into the radiology information system, and operating radiographic and computerized imaging equipment.
  2. Assist Radiologists during body and neuroangiography procedures and Interventional cases, such as percutaneous nephrolithotripsy and radiofrequency ablations.
  3. Monitor patients during procedures and respond to possible contrast media reactions or other emergent situations in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  4. Image studies using radiography equipment and departmental information systems, checking to ensure applicable patient identification, collating images with requisitions, and requesting previous studies.
  5. Facilitate the workflow of designated work areas by checking information on requisitions, regulating inpatient examination time, and arranging departmental and/or facility porters.
  6. Perform quality control duties, such as scheduling and performing equipment tests, recording results, and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair.
  7. Participate in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs by using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks.
  8. Maintain designated work areas by checking and cleaning equipment, setting up examination trays, and receiving and stocking supplies.
  9. Demonstrate procedures and usage of equipment to staff, including medical residents, technologists, and students.
  10. Participate in maintaining patient and hospital records by entering data into the radiology and hospital information system as required.
  11. Respond to inquiries from other clinical areas regarding patient examinations and schedules, and refer other concerns to appropriate supervisors as required.
  12. Determine workload measurements and compile workload statistical reports and other reports as required.
  13. Ensure that the department meets Health and Safety rules, regulations, and practices, including Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves, and Infection Control.
  14. Participate in approved research and special projects in collaboration with supervisors and other healthcare professionals.
  15. Maintain equipment by monitoring its operation and making arrangements for maintenance and repairs as required.
  16. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements and immediately report unsafe situations to supervisors or other appropriate personnel.
Requirements

Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is required. A minimum of two (2) years' recent, related experience in interventional radiography or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is also required.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for general radiology, angiography, and interventional procedures, as well as aseptic techniques, evidence-based practice, and safe work procedures with medical imaging equipment.

They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.

A broad knowledge of PACS/radiology information systems, digital imaging, image archiving, and retrieval is also an asset.

The successful candidate will be able to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, coach, and mentor staff, and will have the ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.

They will also be able to work with a multidisciplinary team and possess computer skills with current computer applications.
