About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work with clients to facilitate, restore, and maintain their optimal level of function in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services
  • Collaborate with clients, caregivers, and family members to achieve treatment goals
  • Manage a busy caseload and prioritize issues on a daily basis
  • Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers
Requirements
  • Graduate of a C.A.O.T recognized School of Occupational Therapy
  • Licensed with College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS)
  • Two years relevant experience
  • Maintain current certification in CPR
  • BLS-C (HCP) Certification
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
  • Counselling skills required
  • Demonstrated experience conducting both individual and group treatment
  • Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family
  • Familiarity with various psychotherapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be an asset
  • Self-directed in his/her practice with an ability to work independently and as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team while dealing with challenging clinical situations and crises
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) certification an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting functional assessments and writing reports
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • $33.97 - $42.89 hourly
