Key Responsibilities

In the capacity of a technical lead within our Ottawa Studio, you will be expected to leverage your technical expertise and contract management experience across a diverse range of projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the enthusiasm, experience, and teamwork necessary to contribute to outstanding project outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering a client-centric project delivery culture through exceptional technical skills.
  • Independently managing the coordination of a multidisciplinary team throughout all project phases.
  • Simultaneously engaging in multiple projects.
  • Actively mentoring junior architects and technologists within the studio.
  • Organizing and overseeing construction documentation, leading building envelope design, and ensuring coordination across various disciplines.
  • Providing construction administration support during the CA phases under the guidance of the Principal in Charge.
  • Collaborating with project design teams to ensure effective project execution through skilled detailing.
  • Leading coordination efforts with both external and internal engineering consultants.
  • Conducting QA/QC processes and implementing project milestone reviews.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of architectural specifications in contract documents and collaborating with specification writers.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in the application of the Ontario Building Code (OBC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or a technical degree in architectural technology.
  • Experience with both small and large-scale projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit 3D Modeling, and Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience with an architectural consulting firm.
  • Interest or experience in sustainable design practices such as LEED or WELL.
  • French language proficiency is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Experience in preparing and organizing architectural contract documents and specifications.
  • Experience in contract administration.
  • Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • A commitment to being a collaborative team member who is eager to learn and adapt.
  • Professional, self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry-related experience.
  • Advanced skills in 3D design software and document management systems.
  • Expertise in 3D coordination tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication tools.
  • Deep understanding of engineering or architectural principles.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, practices, and discipline codes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities are essential.
