Position Overview:

The District of Saanich, a prominent municipality in the Greater Victoria area, is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Building Service Worker I or Building Service Worker II. With a workforce exceeding 1, members, we pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and progressive environment that attracts top talent and promotes professional growth.

The successful candidates will be responsible for performing essential maintenance tasks within the swimming pools and associated facilities. The Building Service Worker II role involves a variety of maintenance responsibilities, including the upkeep of building structures, managing swimming pool heating and filtration systems, as well as executing custodial duties.

Qualifications for Building Service Worker I:

  • Completion of Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Certification as a Building Service Worker Level 1
  • Certification in hard floor and carpet care as required
  • A minimum of three months of relevant experience
  • Valid WHMIS certification within one year
  • Occupational First Aid Level I certification as necessary
  • Ice Facility Operators Certificate (IFO) as required
  • A satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check (PIC-VS)

Candidates with a combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Qualifications for Building Service Worker II:

  • Completion of Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Pool Operators I and II Qualification
  • Valid WHMIS certification within one year
  • Occupational First Aid Level I certification as necessary
  • Experience ranging from over three months to six months
  • A satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check (PIC-VS)
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks and work shifts

Candidates with a combination of education and experience may also be considered.

The successful candidates must demonstrate flexibility in their availability, as the role requires working various shifts, including days, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays. Shift schedules may be adjusted based on operational needs.
