Residential Risk Assessment Specialist

As a Residential Risk Assessment Specialist at Verisk, your primary role involves evaluating residential properties to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards or structural issues. You will conduct assessments on behalf of insurance providers and offer recommendations aimed at minimizing the risk and impact of losses related to fire, theft, and liability.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange visits with clients to conduct visual inspections of properties (approximately 10% of your time)
- Travel to various locations to perform comprehensive risk assessments (approximately 50% of your time)
- During property tours, capture photographs, measure spaces, and examine critical features such as fire safety systems, heating units, and fuel storage
- Evaluate construction quality, electrical systems, heating setups, and plumbing installations to verify compliance with relevant codes.
- Detect and document structural flaws, fire risks, and other safety concerns.
- Engage with property owners to gather historical data, discuss potential risks, and address any inquiries they may have.
- Compile thorough reports utilizing internal systems that detail construction specifications, risk evaluations, and estimated replacement costs (approximately 40% of your time)

Qualifications

- Familiarity with sketching software such as Rapid Sketch and Apex is advantageous.
- Background in underwriting assessment or the insurance sector is preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, including database management, typing accuracy, and word processing, are essential for effective report generation.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required.
Work Environment
- Ability to work independently and remotely, as most tasks are performed from home.
- Significant travel within the region is necessary, requiring a valid driver's license and reliable transportation (50% travel).
Conducting assessments in residences demands professionalism and may involve scheduling visits during evenings and weekends.
