IT Help Desk & Computer Technician

School District No. 42 (SD42) is a dynamic organization that provides educational services to approximately 16,000 students in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. We are seeking a qualified IT Help Desk & Computer Technician to join our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide technical assistance and support to staff, students, and parents as the first point of contact for technical infrastructure problems. This is a full-time continuing position, working 40 hours per week, following a 12-month schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and carry out help desk services, providing computer desktop support and technical assistance to staff, students, and parents.
  • Report to the Manager of Information Technology and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provide technical support for database systems, office programs, email systems, servers, and networks.
  • Work effectively with Windows/Macintosh operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, contractors, and outside agencies.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 plus a two-year diploma in computer and information technology.
  • Recognized Help Desk designation, ITIL Foundation Level certification, and Quality Assurance Testing certificate.
  • Two years of related help desk experience, with solid skills operating enterprise Help Desk Software.
  • Strong knowledge of and proficiency with Windows/Macintosh operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and sufficient physical strength to lift and handle computer equipment.
