We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Street Outreach Worker to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our outreach team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in 2-person teams to provide outreach services to individuals in need, ensuring their basic needs are met and encouraging them to access housing services.
- Work various 8-hour shifts between 11am-3am, including weekends and statutory holidays.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a comprehensive approach to client support.
- Document all interactions and services provided to clients, maintaining accurate records and case notes.
- A relevant post-secondary education in social services, with training in harm reduction, addiction, and mental health services.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
- Two years of experience in an outreach setting, with a focus on direct client service with the homeless population.
- This is a permanent, full-time position.
- Shifts will be Saturday to Wednesday, 11:15am-7:15pm and 7:00pm-3:00am, on a rotational basis.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to work in unfavorable weather conditions, including rain and cold.
- Must be able to walk distances through parks, open spaces, and urban areas.
