The Bakery Manager is accountable for the effective and financially sound operation of the department. The Manager will lead, manage, coach, motivate, and train staff to deliver the highest level of customer service while complying with all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies, Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives. The Manager will also oversee budgets, labor costs, inventory management, product presentation, and merchandising. The Department Manager will mentor and develop their team to enhance customer loyalty, meet customer needs, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

People Leadership

• Foster a coaching and development culture for all employees, emphasizing a passion for food

• Exhibit exceptional leadership while serving as a role model

• Manage direct reports, including selection, orientation, training, performance management, succession planning, and compensation

• Communicate operational requirements and changes to department employees

• Oversee store operations as needed
Customer Experience

• Create a shopping atmosphere that engages customers, enhancing loyalty, sales, and profitability

• Provide superior customer service to fulfill customer needs

• Demonstrate extensive product knowledge, including awareness of product changes, promotions, and seasonal trends

• Order, receive, organize, rotate, merchandise, and present products in line with company standards

• Execute winning strategies as required
Compliance and Policy Adherence

• Lead the implementation of all corporate policies, initiatives, and Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring compliance and effective use by the department and employees, including timely and accurate submission of all relevant documentation.

• Ensure adherence to OH&S, food safety, and other regulatory requirements and procedures
Financial Management

• Ensure the department meets all financial targets and maximizes sales and margins, including appropriate sales forecasting, variance analysis, and labor cost control.

• Manage the department budget
Personal and Professional Development

• Comprehensive understanding of all relevant company programs; attend training as required

• Stay informed about local competitor activity, industry trends, and make recommendations on internal pricing, promotions, and product policies.
Employee Engagement

• Promote an environment of employee engagement, acting as the employer of choice

Qualifications:

Above-average communication skills (both oral and written) Comprehensive knowledge of department operations and skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and full knowledge of total store operations and skills High School Diploma Minimum 18 months of retail store experience, particularly in the specific department Experience in reading and analyzing financial reports, and in developing and adhering to budgets
