About the Opportunity

The Dietitian is responsible for providing competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities. This role advises on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors, providing leadership in team efforts to support nutritional health. The Dietitian participates in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students.

This position is accountable for employing an evidence-informed approach to practice, collaborating with healthcare team providers, and sharing nutrition expertise. The Dietitian contributes to client care through quality and continuity of care, supporting a range of healthcare services within a holistic, client-centered framework.

Please note this is a Multi-Unit/Multi-Site position, with the home unit designated as New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. The successful candidate will be regularly assigned to shifts at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, Glace Bay Hospital, and Northside General Hospital.

About You

We are seeking a qualified Dietitian with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized University, a Dietetic Internship Program, and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists. A minimum of one year of working experience as a dietitian is preferred, with inpatient clinical nutrition experience and competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition being assets. The ideal candidate will have experience counseling patients, proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, and demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Hours
  • Permanent-Full time, 100% FTE, 75 hours biweekly
  • Hours may include days, evenings, weekends & holidays
Compensation and Benefits

$32.95 - $43.43 Hourly
