Overview of the Organization:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) plays a crucial role in overseeing the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis sectors within the province. The LDB is tasked with the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis products, and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Role Summary:

Under the direction of the Store Manager, the Retail Operations Supervisor aids in the administration of a significant retail establishment. Key responsibilities encompass fostering positive customer relations, supervising personnel, promoting teamwork, and maintaining high staff morale. The role may also involve assisting in inventory management and ensuring adequate security measures for both personnel and physical assets. The Retail Operations Supervisor is expected to enhance the Branch's reputation by supporting its policies. Additionally, this position includes training staff, scheduling work assignments, participating in various store operations, and may involve labor relations activities. Shift work is a requirement.

A criminal record check is mandatory.

This position may necessitate lifting cases of liquor weighing up to 50 lbs, standing at a cash register for extended periods, and performing warehouse tasks, including frequent bending and standing. Interaction with the public and clerical responsibilities are also vital components of this role. Successful completion of Serving It RightTM certification is required prior to finalizing any appointments for this position. Work is conducted in a multi-shift retail environment.

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience:
  • Completion of secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of recent experience as an Assistant Manager or Supervisor in a customer-oriented service environment.
  • Experience must include direct responsibility for driving sales and achieving targets.
Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following:
  • Experience in a retail or hospitality setting.
  • Experience in an environment with annual sales exceeding $1 million.
  • Familiarity with visual merchandising standards and key performance indicators.
  • Diploma or certificate in Business, Retail Management, or coursework in Leadership/Supervision.
*Recent experience is defined as occurring within the past 5 years. Experience must be in a confirmed position and not in a relief capacity.
