Job Title: Farm Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Supervisor to join our team at Turning Leaf Greenhouses. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our farm, ensuring the highest quality crops are produced while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work Term: Permanent

  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Education: College/CEGEP
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Work Site Environment:

Our farm operates in a rural area, with a focus on miscellaneous crop farming. You will be working in a hot environment with potential odours and will be required to harvest crops.

Work Setting:

As a Farm Supervisor, you will be working in a rural area with a team of 5-10 people. You will be responsible for supervising nursery and greenhouse workers, ensuring they are following proper procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.

Tasks:
  • Plan for crop growth and development, considering water saturation, light, and temperature.
  • Direct agricultural crops deleafing activities.
  • Perform routine chemical and physical tests of products.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Enforce policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers.
  • Identify and investigate compliance issues.
  • Organize planting, cultivating, and crop harvesting activities.
Certifications and Licenses:

You will be required to hold a Pesticide Applicator's Licence and have experience with automated irrigation systems, fertilizer applicators, and sprayers or dusters.

Transportation and Travel:

You will be required to have a valid driver's licence and own a vehicle.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

As a Farm Supervisor, you will be working in a physically demanding environment, requiring you to stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, and kneel. You will also be required to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

We are looking for a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills, who is organized, efficient, and has a strong sense of initiative. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, making decisions quickly and effectively.
