Job Title: Field Survey Technician

Join the City of Ottawa's Planning, Development & Building Dept. as a Field Survey Technician and contribute to the delivery of high-quality surveying services.

Job Summary

The Surveys and Mapping unit provides critical support to the City's planning, development, and infrastructure operations. As a Field Survey Technician, you will be part of a survey crew and assist Survey Technologists in collecting Topographic and Legal Survey information in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and record survey data using various equipment and technologies.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of survey plans and projects.
  • Collaborate with survey team members to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
  • Perform routine equipment tests and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Operate City vehicles safely and perform daily maintenance checks.
Requirements
  • Completion of a 2-year diploma in surveying from an accredited college or institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering or legal surveying.
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted G-class driver's license with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Land Registration System, 30 MTM and 60 UTM Coordinate System, GPS equipment, and electronic total station equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal survey plans and base mapping products.
