Software Controls Engineer

Position Summary:

Mold-Masters is seeking a Software Controls Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects. In this role, you will be tasked with the design, development, and enhancement of software control systems tailored for Mold-Masters products, aligning with strategic business objectives. Your responsibilities will encompass research into sophisticated control algorithms, selection of suitable software and hardware, as well as coding, testing, debugging, and implementing solutions in production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on control equipment and explore advanced control methodologies and technologies.
  • Draft and develop specifications and software selections to facilitate new control system initiatives.
  • Design, enhance, and optimize software using PLC and embedded firmware microcontroller architecture for current products.
  • Create procedures and user documentation for all software and control system processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of coding development and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve product quality and foster new ideas for control systems.
  • Provide mentorship to the software controls engineering team.
  • Propose recommendations for productivity enhancements and method improvements.
  • Occasionally engage with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to new products.
  • Ensure productivity targets are met while adhering to ISO standards.

Team Dynamics:

The Software Controls Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting R&D operations, focusing on the creation of innovative products, optimizing existing control systems, and swiftly addressing challenges.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in .NET, IEC 1131, C#, and graphical user interface design.
  • Experience with PLC programming, servo drive control, and Industrial Ethernet technologies.
  • Familiarity with electrical design principles and troubleshooting techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of C and C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with B&R, Bosch, and Keba control systems.
