Aspire Software is seeking a Head of Software Engineering to enhance our dynamic team. We are in search of a motivated, people-oriented leader to elevate our engineering division and product offerings. The ideal candidate will possess a proven history as a software engineering leader, adept at building and deploying scalable products within enterprise settings. You excel in nurturing talent, cultivating team culture, and optimizing team engagement and performance.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Oversee a distributed team of software developers and quality assurance professionals, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
  • Guide and mentor the team, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one sessions to provide support and constructive feedback.

Project Management:

  • Supervise the planning, execution, and delivery of software initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Effectively manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Collaborate with the product team to refine and deliver the project roadmap, ensuring clear ownership of objectives.

Technical Leadership:

  • Maintain an advanced level of technical expertise, including hands-on coding and code reviews.
  • Ensure the team makes informed technology decisions regarding quality, maintainability, and adaptability.
  • Explore, assess, and experiment with emerging technologies.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the formulation of the technical strategy and roadmap.
  • Align the team's objectives with the broader strategic goals of the organization.
  • Provide business and client context to foster a sense of ownership within the team.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously assess and enhance engineering processes to boost efficiency and quality.
  • Implement best practices and advocate for a culture of ongoing improvement.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Workforce Management or the Healthcare sector is advantageous.
  • Over 10 years of experience in Software Development.
  • A passion for crafting elegant software solutions to complex challenges.
  • Ability to comprehend existing systems and address intricate system-level issues with a focus on simplicity and durability.
  • A commitment to building a high-performing, open-minded, and collaborative team.
  • Strong coding skills and empathy for the technical challenges faced by developers.
  • Experience in deploying commercial applications at scale.
  • A pragmatic approach to Agile software delivery practices.
  • Prior experience managing a distributed team.
  • Experience with technology stack migrations and modernization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge across multiple disciplines, technologies, and processes in support of business objectives.
  • Effective use of tools in planning, execution, operations, and change management.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture and Software Design principles and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex business problems while delivering measurable impact.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to lead, manage, and motivate team members.
  • A proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
