About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Trades Assistant to join our team at ESSKAY HOMES INC. As a key member of our construction team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Operations: Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials, ensuring timely delivery and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Clean and lubricate cranes, and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Construction Support: Assist in the erection and dismantling of concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades, as well as instructing apprentices in safe work practices.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate bridge or overhead cranes to lift, move, and place plant machinery and materials, and assist in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites.
  • Site Cleanup: Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, and remove rubble and other debris from construction sites.
  • Machine Operation: Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction, and operate cranes mounted on boats or barges to lift, move, and place equipment and materials.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, physically demanding, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads.
