About the Role: WSP Canada is excited to announce an opening for a Water Resources Engineering Specialist to become a vital part of our Earth and Environment Mine Surface Water Team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hydrologic evaluations, site-wide and localized water balance assessments, and infrastructure options analyses for water management.
  • Lead or assist in surface water resource projects, including watershed management, environmental compliance, and natural channel design.
  • Utilize and enhance technical expertise in watershed analysis, hydrology, climate change impacts, and hydraulic modeling to support assessments and designs.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control tasks, managing sediment and erosion control related to water management infrastructure construction.
  • Engage in field studies for flow measurements and water quality sampling, supporting groundwater and geotechnical investigations.
  • Analyze and manage various surface water datasets.
  • Conduct watershed and hydraulic modeling to support assessments and design initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution is required; a postgraduate degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in surface water management projects.
  • Eligibility for registration as an Engineer with the relevant provincial professional organization.
  • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
  • Understanding of water balances, with experience in developing models using GoldSim software.
  • Familiarity with hydrology, hydraulics, database management, and GIS software.
  • Experience in river engineering, fluvial geomorphology, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Experience in the mining, infrastructure, or power sectors.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and resources.
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities.
