Addiction Nurse Specialist

About the Role
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Addiction Nurse to join our Intensive Care Management team in Powell River, BC. As an Addiction Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing direct nursing care and supportive counseling to clients who are in the process of detoxification, stabilization, and/or transitioning into other long-term care addiction services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and supportive counseling to clients with mental health and/or substance use concerns.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other health professionals to achieve excellence in client-centered care and education.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address the unique needs of clients.
- Conduct assessments and interventions to support clients in achieving their recovery goals.
- Provide education and support to clients and their families on substance use and mental health issues.
Requirements
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two (2) years' recent, related clinical experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery and trauma-informed practice.
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care.
- Knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.
- General knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
