Your Opportunity:

A challenging and rewarding role is available for an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at the Peter Lougheed Centre. As a key member of our surgical care team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to patients with day-to-day care, planning, and interventions.

About the Role:

The Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner will integrate clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. You will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan
  • Assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures
  • Utilize advanced practice nursing competencies to increase care quality and promote appropriate use of health services
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain additional education and/or certifications specific to area of practice
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree
  • Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Orthopedic and NP experience is an asset, but not necessary for application
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active practice as an NP in a relevant acute care clinical setting during the past two years
  • Connect Care (Epic) and MS Office Suite knowledge
  • Experience in quality improvement and/or quality improvement certification an asset
