Site Engineering Specialist – Civil & Structural
Overview
We are in search of professionals eager to tackle the challenges and personal growth opportunities associated with a large-scale, intricate project.
The Site Engineering Team is essential for facilitating prompt decision-making to advance construction and uphold our client's design integrity. Site Engineers are pivotal in guaranteeing that installations align with design specifications while maintaining Process Safety throughout the Project.
Team Structure
Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager as part of the Project Team:
Civil / Structural Site Engineer – responsibilities encompass structural steel, buildings, pipe racks, foundations, and piling.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to various sites as required within the operational area.
- Serve as a safety advocate and model;
- Comprehend industry standards, Project Specific Technical Standards, and relevant client DEPs;
- Act as the primary contact for Requests For Information (RFIs) pertaining to design;
- Collaborate closely with the Quality Team to monitor work and proactively identify potential issues requiring engineering solutions;
- Work in partnership with the CSU Team to address concerns, proactively recognize issues, and deliver tailored engineering solutions that facilitate efficient turnover, commissioning, and safe startup;
- Generate technical documentation for structural tasks, including validating the contents of various construction packages to ensure all necessary work was accounted for in previous phases (if applicable);
- Design and revise civil and structural standards in accordance with current codes, project requirements, and client specifications;
- Review technical outputs as mandated by client protocols;
- Coordinate technical outputs internally, ensuring input from all relevant disciplines.
Qualifications and Attributes
- This role demands an individual comfortable navigating construction environments, capable of effective communication with frontline workers, supervisors, and management;
- Ability to foster trust and positive relationships across all teams;
- Experience in multidisciplinary and multicultural team settings;
- Capacity to maintain a positive demeanor in high-pressure situations;
- Proactive approach to work, with a history of candid communication;
- Experience in industrial project environments;
- Technical expertise in discipline engineering within project or operational settings;
- Familiarity with the technical regulatory landscape of Alberta and Canada;
- Proven ability to make informed decisions based on risk assessments and to identify timely economic solutions;
- Strong communication skills: adept at articulating complex technical concepts to facilitate decision-making;
- Ability to recognize when to escalate issues promptly based on project timelines or technical assistance needed;
- P.Eng. designation in Alberta is advantageous;
- A range of experience from 3 to over 15 years is expected.
