Position Overview

The Lead Financial Operations Manager plays a crucial role in shaping the financial landscape of the organization. This multifaceted position encompasses a range of responsibilities, including financial reporting, strategic business planning, valuations, and forecasting. The individual will collaborate closely with various finance team members, including the Chief Financial Officer, as well as other departments such as operations and sales.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid model with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present consolidated financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Lead the resolution of complex accounting issues and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process, including the preparation, review, and approval of journal entries, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during interim and year-end audits.
  • Analyze and report on key business performance metrics, linking operational and financial trends.
  • Assist the tax team with provincial and federal tax compliance and filing.
  • Develop and enforce financial controls and procedures to ensure adherence to accounting policies under IFRS.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Support senior management with various analyses and reports to facilitate informed decision-making, including board reports.
  • Contribute to the forecasting and business planning processes.
  • Assist in the annual valuation process, including a thorough review of financial models and long-term assumptions.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and prepare presentations on financial and operational outcomes, supporting special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA preferred) with extensive knowledge of IFRS.
  • 7-10 years of experience in accounting, with a proven track record of excellence, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in advisory or corporate finance at a reputable firm or organization is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling and complex functions.
  • Expertise in PowerPoint for creating impactful presentations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the delivery of high-quality management materials.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and a collaborative team player.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-driven and proactive in managing workload and pursuing professional growth.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
