Position Overview
The Finance and Accounting Senior Manager is a pivotal role that lays the groundwork for a rewarding and dynamic career path. This position will engage in various aspects of financial reporting, strategic business planning, valuations, and forecasting. Collaboration with other finance professionals, including the CFO and various operational teams, is essential.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid model, requiring 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate consolidated financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Take an active role in addressing and resolving complex accounting issues.
- Facilitate the month-end closing process, which includes the preparation, review, and approval of journal entries, ensuring all deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Coordinate with external auditors for both interim and year-end audits.
- Compile, analyze, and report on critical business operating metrics and drivers, linking operational and financial trends and variances.
- Assist the tax team with provincial and federal tax filing obligations.
- Establish, implement, and oversee financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting policies under IFRS.
- Offer insights on business process enhancements and opportunities for improved efficiency and control.
- Support the preparation of various analyses and reports for senior management to aid in business decision-making, including monthly and quarterly reports for the board of directors.
- Contribute to the forecasting and business planning processes.
- Assist in the annual valuation process, including a thorough review of models and long-term assumptions, as well as preparing management presentations.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and presentations regarding financial and operational outcomes, and support special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Possession of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA preferred) with a solid understanding of IFRS.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in an accounting role, demonstrating a history of high performance, including at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Experience in advisory or corporate finance at a reputable firm or leading organization is advantageous.
- Exceptional time management and prioritization skills, with a proven track record of meeting stringent deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the ability to model and utilize complex functions.
- Strong skills in PowerPoint, with the capability to create impactful presentations.
- Meticulous attention to detail, essential for delivering materials ready for management review.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and a collaborative team spirit.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-driven and proactive in managing workload and pursuing professional development.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with a commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
