The Role

We are seeking a Vice President of Facilities Management to lead our central and western Canada (Ontario to British Columbia) and United States operations. Reporting to the President and CEO of Equans Services, this key leadership role will have full responsibility for the profit center, ensuring that employees, customers, and shareholders' expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities

The Vice President of Facilities Management will:

  • Protect our most valuable asset, our people, by ensuring a safe working environment
  • Lead a professional team dedicated to safety, quality, and customer service, driving a strong employee culture focused on continuous improvement
  • Coordinate with support departments to ensure seamless delivery of customer-facing and back-office services
  • Ensure compliance with company rules and policies, and manage all aspects of delivery, including recruitment, resourcing, inventory, supplier management, finance, health and safety, environment, contract management, quality, and customer relations
  • Establish strategic plans in line with customer values and needs, collaborating with business development teams
  • Represent the company, maintaining close links with customer executives and establishing business alignment with customers
  • Ensure contracts are renewed while protecting company and shareholder interests
  • Understand customer goals, objectives, and challenges, proposing solutions to expand customer relationships and offerings
  • Establish strategic growth plans, coordinating efforts in execution and collaboration with business development teams
  • Align solutions and organization to market opportunities in Canada and the USA
  • Support account planning and opportunity reviews, establishing operational win strategies with staff
  • Develop relationships with senior customer decision-makers to align their needs with Equans capabilities and control outcomes
  • Have full Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility for the business, including annual budget process, forecasting, investments, and cash position
  • Meet business plan and shareholders' requirements
  • Monitor cash management and ensure continuous performance improvement
  • Manage all risks, whether financial, legal, operational, or health, safety, and environment, ensuring compliance with corporate and cyber-security policies, ethics, and all policies
  • Set strategic vision and foster a team culture that is customer-centric
  • Resource planning and adaptation of organization based on market opportunity and needs
  • Manage and supervise employees under his/her responsibility
  • Actively participate in the recruitment of key positions
  • Manage team performance and lead the annual objectives process
  • Ensure good communication with his team and develop engagement
  • Identify training needs and ensure adequate development of all on-site personnel to prepare for succession
  • Lead site union negotiations directly or through delegation, depending on maturity
  • Ensure operations with the resource management teams in his department

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Recognized leadership experience in a multisite, multicultural environment and some knowledge of facility management activities
  • Ability to manage and motivate a large geographically dispersed team
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in profitably growing a business
  • At least ten years of experience in a business profit center role
  • Knowledge of facility management and capacity to understand technical situations (technical background preferred)
  • Proven capacity to develop the business with a strategic mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop long-term relationships at a senior level
  • Ability to engage teams over the long term
  • Able to coordinate multiple key initiatives at the same time
  • Financial skills and expertise in managing a Profit Center
  • Ability to travel regularly in Canada and the United States, and occasionally in Europe
  • Able to obtain security clearances associated with different levels of governments
  • Must be fluent in English (oral & written)
  • Having Pharma experience is a strong asset
