The Position: As a Senior HR Business Partner, you will be the essential advisor for business leaders, guiding them through complex personnel matters with strategic insight. Your goal is to align HR initiatives with business objectives, translating overarching concepts into actionable HR strategies. You will identify trends, analyze relevant data, and propose solutions to maintain our competitive edge. As a pivotal contributor, you will advance HR objectives and spearhead initiatives such as Diversity, Talent Management, and Employee Engagement within your designated teams. Whether implementing new talent development programs or devising change management strategies, you will be at the forefront, ensuring seamless operations. In terms of employee relations, you will collaborate closely with the Employee and Labor Relations team to navigate challenging situations, ensuring adherence to policies and resolution of issues in alignment with company values. Ultimately, as a leader in HR, you will help shape the future by mentoring and developing the HR team, cultivating a pipeline of future leaders, and fostering robust partnerships throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

Provide Strategic and Consultative Guidance to Business Leaders on Complex Personnel Issues
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, offering strategic and consultative insights on intricate personnel matters.
  • Comprehend business priorities and translate them into an HR agenda that supports organizational transformation.
  • Identify emerging personnel challenges and trends to inform decision-making. Deconstruct strategic issues and analyze data to provide insights and recommendations, collaborating with HR Centers of Expertise as necessary.
  • Assess, develop, and evaluate the overall business impacts, risks, and change management strategies associated with achieving business objectives; recommend adjustments in organizational structures and capacities.
  • Monitor talent health and provide strategic recommendations to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Expertise to utilize digital tools and analytics for data-driven decision-making.
Advance HR Objectives and Enable the People Strategy within Assigned Client Functions
  • Champion the HR strategy and identify opportunities to further HR objectives across the organization.
  • Act as a key partner to business leaders and HR lead within assigned client functions, executing the People and Culture strategy in alignment with broader HR and COE teams.
  • Guide, mentor, and lead the implementation of Corporate HR initiatives, including Diversity, Performance, Talent, and Engagement, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Develop change management strategies and plans to support transformation initiatives.
  • Lead the rollout of new talent programs and models within assigned client functions.
  • Collaborate with HR partners to create and implement integrated talent strategies that support the business in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent to meet current and future needs.
  • Pursue continuous improvement and participate in or lead HR projects.
Strategic Employee and Labor Relations
  • Proactively assess situations and partner with Employee and Labor Relations COE to devise strategies that facilitate business results and support our people and culture strategy.
  • Ensure the appropriate application of HR policies, standards, and procedures to align with NAFOR's vision and values, while adhering to legislative requirements.
  • With guidance from the ER/LR COE, manage complex employee relations issues within assigned client functions.
  • Ensure that findings from investigations conducted by ER/LR COE are communicated effectively to business leaders, with implementation plans developed in collaboration with HR groups.
Develop and Mentor the HR Team
  • As a leader within the HR team, support ongoing capability development to build a talent pipeline for future HR leaders.
  • Exemplify our vision and values while fostering strong partnerships with HR functions and NAFOR.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Human Resources, or a related field. We welcome candidates regardless of educational background if they possess the necessary skills.
  • Extensive progressive HR/business experience, focusing on HR generalist/business partner support, organizational effectiveness, and program management.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with executives and senior leaders, providing robust recommendations, coaching, influencing, and driving change.
  • Experience utilizing data and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated business acumen and consulting capabilities.
  • Familiarity with change management and supporting leaders in developing change plans.
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to create executive summaries.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
