About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrument Technician to join our Refinery Maintenance Department as part of the Instrumentation Department. This role involves maintaining instrumentation and automation systems, installing, testing, and commissioning new instrumentation and associated equipment. The successful candidate will support Operations and Maintenance in sustaining safe and reliable operations, embracing positive change, and committed to advancing our safety and reliability culture at the refinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and calibrate process analyzers to ensure accurate readings and optimal performance.
  • Perform maintenance and calibration of continuous emission monitors (CEMS) in accordance with PG7 regulations.
  • Repair and maintain flow, temperature, pressure, and level measurement devices to ensure accurate readings and optimal performance.
  • Repair and maintain process control valves and valve positioners to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain refinery Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and Programable Logic Controllers (PLC) to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Install, test, and commission new instrumentation and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Injury & Incident Free (IIF), Safety, and Loss Prevention.
  • Hold current and up-to-date Active Learner Training certification.
  • Hold a valid BC Driver's License (Class 5 minimum).
  • Hold Industrial Instrumentation BCTQ, IP/Red Seal certification.
  • Have a working knowledge of JDE, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Be able to multitask, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that support Parkland's Diversity and Inclusion culture.
  • Be able to positively interact and communicate with personnel from all divisions and levels of the company, including contractors and vendors.
  • Have excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Be able to perform effectively under conditions of a fluctuating workload with frequent changes and competing demands.
  • Be comfortable speaking in public forums such as team meetings, toolbox talks, start, and end of shift meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diploma of Instrumentation Technology.
  • Experience with troubleshooting refinery equipment related to the Instrumentation trade.
  • Experience with maintenance and calibration of process analyzers.
  • Experience with maintenance and calibration of continuous emission monitors in accordance with PG7 regulations.
  • Experience with maintenance and repair of flow, temperature, and pressure measurement devices.
  • Experience with maintenance and repair of process control valves and valve positioners.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of Distributive Control Systems (DCS), Programable Logic Controllers (PLC).
