Opportunity Overview:
As an Entry-Level Occupational Therapist in the Inpatient Acute Care setting, you will play a vital role in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care to your clients. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments and implementing interventions, as well as contributing to effective discharge planning for a varied client demographic. You will receive guidance from the Allied Health Area Manager and the Occupational Therapy Professional Practice Lead, all within a supportive interdisciplinary team framework. Additionally, you will have the chance to offer clinical direction to Therapy Assistants and may occasionally supervise Occupational Therapy or Therapy Assistant students during their clinical placements.
Role Description:
In your capacity as an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will deliver evidence-based services aimed at enhancing occupational performance tailored to the needs of individuals, groups, or communities. Your role may encompass direct service provision, consultation, education, or advocacy, positioning you as a key member of the healthcare team. You will engage with individuals, groups, and communities to facilitate meaningful participation in various occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure activities. Your focus will be on empowering clients to achieve their highest functional potential and independence, considering their cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and physical capabilities and challenges.
As an OT, your comprehensive services will include triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders within the client's physical, institutional, cultural, and social contexts. You will actively involve clients and their families as essential members of the healthcare team, promoting their engagement in all facets of care. Collaboration with clients and families will be crucial in determining, executing, and assessing rehabilitation strategies.
You will also participate in various interprofessional teams to enhance awareness, improve support, and engage in quality improvement initiatives by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance client services. Your contributions will extend to quality improvement efforts within your professional community, including peer mentoring and supervising students. Furthermore, you may provide clinical oversight to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.
