Become a Key Member of Our Team as a Child Development Specialist

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is in search of a dedicated professional to join our Families Supporting Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program as a Child Development Specialist. Our organization is committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that we deliver exceptional care and support to families within our childcare services. In this role, you will be instrumental in assisting children with unique needs and collaborating closely with their families to establish and achieve developmental milestones.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate healthy developmental practices for children
  • Motivate children to engage in various activities
  • Work in partnership with families and other specialists to define developmental objectives
  • Complete necessary documentation and administrative responsibilities
  • Establish strong connections with families
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment for children
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions
  • Carry out additional tasks as required
Qualifications:
  • Preferred experience with children who have disabilities
  • Mandatory Level 3 Child Care Certification
  • Current Standard Child Care First Aid & CPR certification
  • Capability to secure a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector verification
  • Physical capacity to fulfill job requirements
  • Additional qualifications in supporting children with disabilities are advantageous
