About the Role

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a Families Supporting Children with Disabilities Educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to families in our childcare programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and teach programs that promote child development and participation.
  • Work collaboratively with families and other support professionals to set goals and develop strategies for child development.
  • Provide one-on-one or shared support for children with additional needs, promoting their healthy development and participation in activities.
  • Complete required documentation and administrative tasks, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Guide and redirect children in situations where conflicts arise, using positive child guidance techniques.
  • Build relationships with families, communicating verbally and in writing on a daily basis.
  • Commit to Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Procedures, ensuring a safe and clean environment for all children.
  • Attend all required professional development and training opportunities, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with disabilities is an asset.
  • Must possess Level 3 Child Care Certification.
  • Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR – C certification.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Able to perform physical demands, such as lifting, running, etc.
