The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team in providing high-quality care and service to families in our childcare programs. As a Families Supporting Children with Disabilities Educator, you will play a vital role in implementing and teaching programs that promote the healthy development of children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent YMCA's values and mission, comply with all YMCA Policies, procedures, and Provincial Licensing regulations.
  • Provide support to promote Child's healthy development.
  • Encourage and support the child or children to take part in activities.
  • Work with the family and other supporting professionals to set goals in development and participation.
  • Complete required documentation and administrative tasks as required.
  • Guide and redirect children in situations when conflicts arise using a variety of positive child guidance techniques.
  • Build relationships with families and communicate, verbally and in writing, daily.
  • Commitment to Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend all required professional development and training opportunities.
  • Consistently provide a safe and clean environment following all cleaning procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with disabilities is an asset.
  • Must possess Level 3 Child Care Certification.
  • Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR – C.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Able to perform physical demands, such as lifting, running, etc.
  • Additional training in working with children with disabilities and or Non-violent Crisis Intervention training would be an asset.
