Occupational Therapist I

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team at the Peter Lougheed Centre. As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide evidence-informed services to individuals, groups, or communities, with a focus on occupational performance. You will engage clients to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with clients and families to determine, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation plans.
  • Participate in interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support, and engage in quality improvement.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and professional community, and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • At least 3 years of experience working as an occupational therapist.
  • Demonstrated competency with the fabrication of basic hand and wrist splints.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of post-operative and post-fracture hand therapy treatment protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience working with clients with MSK injuries/conditions.
  • Previous experience working in an outpatient or ambulatory setting.
  • Certified Hand Therapist designation.
