About the Role

The Default Recovery Officer will be responsible for analyzing, preparing, and instructing legal action to approved solicitors to commence proceedings for delinquent accounts. This includes providing all pertinent information and documentation, as well as offering the highest level of service and support to collectors and recovery officers.

The scope of this role ranges from a thorough analysis of the loan servicing history and documentation for errors or deficiencies and recommending resolutions to prevent contested or impaired legal action. The officer will also prepare and instruct legal action to approved solicitors, interact and coordinate with solicitors and internal departments as required, and complete all administrative tasks relating to the collection/legal process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Submit requisitions for manual withdrawals from mortgage accounts
  • Transfer funds towards payments in arrears
  • Review and input new banking information
  • Prepare legal action instructions to solicitors to commence proceedings for delinquent accounts, including all pertinent information and documentation
  • Receive files from 1-30 day collections and transfer instructed files to legal in a timely manner
  • Total files instructed should equal or better what was received from collection department per month
  • Assist the Collection or Legal teams with calls as required
  • Additional duties as assigned by management
  • Recommend and support departmental efficiencies and procedures
  • Data entry into applicable business platforms
  • Reconciliation of accounts & accuracy of figures
  • Accurate and detailed legal recaps
  • Appropriate backup documentation provided with legal instructions

Requirements:

  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Great communication skills
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in business management, finance, or related field (university an asset)
  • 2 years in administrative role
  • Mortgage Collection or related legal administrative experience an asset
  • Working knowledge of Residential Default process, Mortgage Origination & Servicing process preferred
  • Working experience in Microsoft Office Programs
