Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in delivering professional nursing care to patients with complex and unpredictable health conditions. This position operates under the general supervision of the Health Services Manager and encompasses a range of responsibilities including independent nursing services, administering prescribed medical treatments, and taking a leadership role within the healthcare team. The RN is also responsible for coordinating patient care and facilitating discharge processes, all while demonstrating a commitment to the organization's vision, values, and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in patient assessments and care planning.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Current experience in an Intensive Care Unit is preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program is required.
- Completion of an ICU training program or equivalent is necessary.
- Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) is mandatory.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of nursing standards and ethical practices.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize patient care and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using healthcare-related software and technology.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate to heavy physical effort is required in this role.
This position requires a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, as well as checks for Child and Adult Abuse Registries. Candidates must be prepared to provide proof of these checks as part of the employment process.
