Main Duties and CompetenciesThe Instrumentation Lead plays a critical role in managing the Instrumentation group of a project or program, providing guidance and coaching to the team. As a senior member of the engineering leadership team, the Instrumentation Lead will report to the department lead and be responsible for:
- Leading a team of Instrumentation Engineers/Specialists and designers for a Sustainable program or multiple projects at a time.
- Liaising with I&C vendors and the engineering team to resolve technical issues.
- Steering review sessions for I&C deliverables with different project stakeholders, including the client's project team.
- Coordinating with the Project Management team to ensure I&C activities are aligned with the agreed project schedule.
- Reviewing and checking I&C deliverables, including datasheets, sizing calculations, MR packages, and Control drawing/deliverables.
- Serving as a senior Technical resource, Checker, and Consultant for the I&C department.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to intermediate/junior engineers in their day-to-day activities.
- Representing the I&C team to the client and being responsible for meeting client expectations.
To be successful in this role, the Instrumentation Lead should possess:
- At least ten (10) years of accomplished experience in I&C Engineering, with the majority being in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Proven lead experience either at the project level or at a program level.
- Experience with Oil and Gas industry projects of various sizes is preferred.
- Degree/Technology certification or equivalent.
- Professional membership with APEGA or equivalent is required.
- Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
- Excellent diplomatic and communication skills.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and CAD support.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
