We are seeking an HVDC Technology Operations Engineer to become an integral part of our HVDC division in Montreal. You will collaborate with a skilled team of engineers focused on IT/OT Systems, reporting directly to the HVDC Engineering Manager in Canada. Your primary responsibility will be to establish requirements and design topologies for automation equipment utilized in HVDC converter stations, overseeing the process from the tender phase through to project execution. This role requires alignment with customer specifications and adherence to applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- As an Operations Technology Engineer, your focus will be on SCADA systems, HMI, and network infrastructure.
- You will play a crucial role in the HVDC team, responsible for the design of OT systems within our control and protection frameworks.
- Lead the implementation of systems and networks in HVDC projects.
- Develop comprehensive network and system infrastructures to support operational needs.
- Ensure that systems and networks comply with best practice topologies, customer specifications, and relevant standards.
- Participate in security evaluations as a subject-matter expert.
- Actively seek and identify opportunities for process enhancements.
- Collaborate with both internal and external customers to ensure our deliverables meet their standards and requirements.
- Engage and network with engineering peers, sharing best practices across various projects and disciplines.
- You will have opportunities for international travel, contributing to the establishment of our power stations globally.
- Uphold Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your actions while supporting your colleagues and the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with Gateway Server, SCADA, and HMI systems (experience with MicroScada and Intouch is advantageous).
- Proficiency in Database Management/SQL.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, switches, servers, and workstations.
- Awareness of Cyber Security principles.
- Experience with backup/image management on servers and workstations, as well as patch management.
- Knowledge of AC Control & Protection schemes or automation is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of international electrical standards (IEEE/IEC) is a plus.
- Familiarity with C/C++ programming is an asset.
- Experience in HVDC projects is preferred, but relevant OT experience from AC systems or automation is also valuable.
- Previous experience in a related field is essential. Flexibility and an open mindset are crucial for success in this role. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required for effective communication with various stakeholders. Knowledge of French is an asset.
