As a key member of our surfacing department, you will be responsible for overseeing the surfacing process, defining and scoping requirements, and establishing detailed goals for your team. You will also act as a people manager for members of the Surfacing team, contribute to reviews of surfacing artists\u2019 work, and ensure surfacing best practices and guidelines are respected. Additionally, you will work closely with tech art and engineering teams to establish performance and memory budgets, and break down high-level art goals into smaller goals for yourself and team.

Responsibilities:

* Oversee portions of the surfacing department
* Define and scope requirements and establish detailed goals for your team
* Act as a people manager for members of the Surfacing team
* Contribute in reviews of surfacing artist\u2019s work
* Ensure surfacing best practices and guidelines are respected
* Work with tech art and engineering teams to establish performance and memory budgets
* Work closely with artists to bring believability and detail to character materials
* Break down high-level art goals into smaller goals for yourself and team

Qualifications:

* 5+ Years Experience on Video Game production teams
* Experience shipping surfacing content in a craft leadership context on 1-2 shipped console/PC titles
* High level of skill in procedural based surfacing workflows (Substance Designer & Painter, ZBrush, Maya)
* Proficiency in creating surface shaders in-engine
* Communicate processes within surfacing through meetings, presentations, and documentation
* Ability to gather and break down references into key surfacing elements
* Degree in Fine Arts, Visual Design, Animation, or related discipline
