Executive Director, Financial Services

Acadia University seeks a seasoned financial leader to join our Financial Services department as Executive Director, Financial Services. In this pivotal role, you will report to the Associate Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, providing strategic leadership across various accounting operations, including General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Research Accounting, Student Accounts, and Financial Reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance internal controls, streamline operations, and elevate service delivery.
  • Manage, support, and develop Financial Services' employees, including both unionized and non-unionized staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong financial controls across the organization and contribute to the formulation of financial policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting and CPA designation.
  • At least 10 years of progressive management experience, including leading diverse financial accounting teams and overseeing an external audit process.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and Fund Accounting.
  • Proven experience in leading digital transformation initiatives and optimizing financial systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, troubleshoot issues, and provide clear direction and advice.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with Ellucian's Colleague software is an asset.
