About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team at Maple Contractors Ltd. as a Journeyman/Woman Carpenter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates of labor and material costs for construction projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Develop and implement layouts for construction projects, using measuring tools and equipment.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel.
  • Prepare and submit tenders and quotations for construction projects.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware.
  • Schedule and coordinate work on construction sites, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct site surveys and level checks to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices and supervise other workers on construction sites.
  • Estimate costs and materials for construction projects, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Operate computer-aided design (CAD) software and other computer systems to support construction projects.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residential and commercial properties, including wooden structures in various industries.
Requirements
  • Carpenter Trade Certification.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) training.
  • Working at heights training.
  • Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) clearance Certificate.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • CPR Certificate.
  • CADD Course.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Carpenter Red Seal Certificate.
  • Fall Arrest Protection Training Course.
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate.
  • Confined Space Entry Training.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced construction environment, with a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and handling heavy loads. The role requires a high level of physical fitness, with the ability to work at heights and in a variety of weather conditions.
