About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Department Manager to join our team in the Burnaby office. As a key member of our Industrial and Infrastructure Business line, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and growing our established electrical engineering department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers to deliver high-quality projects and programs.
  • Assume the role of Contract Representative on projects and programs with various infrastructure clients.
  • Responsible for the commercial performance of the department, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Assess, plan, and schedule work across members of the team to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Develop and train team members to stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies.
  • Grow the team through existing contracts and clients, as well as new ones.
  • Adhere to client schedules and coordinate assignments with other disciplines.
  • Lead regular department meetings to ensure actions are delivered upon.
  • Conduct business development and prepare/review engineering proposals based on clients' RFPs/RFQs.
  • Ensure the team's awareness and compliance with EGBC requirements.
  • Work in accordance with Ausenco's values and demonstrate commitment, active involvement, and leadership regarding safety, sustainability, client, people, and financial accountabilities.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in electrical engineering and leadership experience. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years' experience, including at least 5 years' experience in a leadership or management role with direct reports.
  • Experience managing teams of 10-30 combined direct and indirect reports.
  • Strategic thinking and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and previous business development experience with both new and existing clients.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop employees.
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
