We are seeking a highly skilled Linguist to join our team at TransPerfect. As a Linguist, you will be responsible for translating and proofreading various types of documents from French to English, ensuring high-quality output that meets our clients' expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Translate and review documents from French to English, adhering to TransPerfect's quality standards and client expectations.
- Utilize reference materials, instructions, and client PAQs to ensure consistency and accuracy in translations.
- Collaborate with Project Coordinators and Managers to discuss client expectations and instructions, ensuring a clear understanding of project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with Project Coordinators and Managers to keep them informed of project progress and provide feedback on nonconformances and quality issues.
- Ensure correct style and tone in translated documents, maintaining professionalism and focus under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Be accountable for errors and omissions associated with projects, ensuring signoff of end products and maintaining translation memories.
- Assist with creating and updating glossaries and reference materials to improve final quality, and maintain disciplined operations procedures across various client projects.
- Perform project QA steps, assist with new department processes, and establish and maintain excellent relationships with contract translators and proofreaders globally.
- Work on preflight material, complete assigned tasks, and prioritize translation/proofreading/quality management tasks depending on Production needs.
- Participate in client calls and meetings to gather feedback and enforce relationships with clients.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with working knowledge of French (Belgium) and cultural knowledge in both languages.
- Flexibility and adaptability to different assignments and tasks, utilizing relevant skills and tools in each case.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain professionalism under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work independently and maintain organization and results-oriented focus.
- Typically requires 2 years of related work experience or at least 1 year of experience as an Associate Internal Linguist in the company, with a minimum Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
