Position Summary
The Infrastructure and Network Operations Expert will play a crucial role in the installation, configuration, administration, and documentation of all Windows and Linux server infrastructure components within the Kohl & Frisch ecosystem. This role demands intermediate to senior-level expertise in server architecture, troubleshooting, and a solid grasp of IT security principles. The individual will spearhead projects related to servers, applications, and Microsoft Azure, while providing hands-on technical support to ensure the reliability of all systems for business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Server Management: Take full ownership of the lifecycle management of Windows and Linux servers, including installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and performance enhancement to ensure robust, secure, and efficient server operations.
- Data Backup Oversight: Protect data integrity by meticulously managing backup systems, performing regular backups, troubleshooting issues, and confirming the effectiveness of data recovery protocols.
- Documentation and Training: Create detailed documentation for all operational processes, ensuring knowledge is accurately captured and shared. Conduct training sessions to ensure team proficiency in established practices and protocols.
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance strategies to keep systems running at optimal efficiency. Monitor system health, gather performance metrics, and proactively resolve errors and alerts.
- Security Monitoring: Vigilantly monitor security events using SIEM tools, collaborating with internal and external teams to proactively address and mitigate threats.
- Change Management Participation: Engage in the Change Management process, advocating for necessary system updates and maintenance to keep our infrastructure modern and competitive.
- Network Hardware Management: Install and manage essential network hardware devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, and access points, to maintain a stable and scalable network infrastructure.
- Network Performance Improvement: Continuously assess and identify opportunities for enhancements in network hardware, configurations, and practices to boost overall network performance and reliability.
- AS400 Systems Management: Oversee AS400 systems by ensuring regular backups, timely updates, and the resilience of network and hardware operations, including managing Mimix configurations.
- On-Call Support: Provide after-hours support, including weekends, to resolve critical technical issues as they arise.
- IT Infrastructure Travel: Be prepared to travel to various locations to apply expertise in setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting IT infrastructure, ensuring consistent operations across all sites.
- Proven experience in network administration, with a comprehensive understanding of network infrastructure, server management, and security protocols.
- Expertise in managing both Windows and Linux server environments, focusing on high availability and optimal performance.
- Experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting backup systems, with a strong commitment to data preservation and recovery.
- Skilled in creating thorough process documentation and delivering effective training on best practices and procedures.
- Proficient in using SIEM tools for proactive security threat monitoring and coordinating resolution efforts.
- Involved in change management processes, with a keen eye for identifying necessary system improvements.
- Hands-on experience with various network hardware devices, with a proactive approach to enhancing network performance.
- Familiarity with AS400 system support, ensuring seamless integration and operational resilience within the network infrastructure.
- Availability for on-call support outside standard business hours and willingness to travel as needed to support IT infrastructure initiatives.
- College diploma, university degree, or equivalent experience in IT system administration.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with enterprise server infrastructure.
- Experience in troubleshooting Windows and Linux servers.
- Azure Certifications are preferred.
- Additional certifications such as CCNA, NSE 4, and Azure are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience with Radius servers and AS400 systems.
- Familiarity with Cisco and Fortinet technologies.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, O365, MS Defender, and Intune.
- Proficient in backup and storage solutions.
