Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter, Construction to join our team at Totten Insurance Group Inc. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting complex construction risks, ensuring thorough and reliable evaluations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough risk analysis and underwriting for complex construction projects, including builder's risk and wrap-up liability.
  • Review and analyze submission documentation, including engineering reports, schedules, and budget breakdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, underwriting guidelines, and delegated underwriting authority contracts.
  • Collaborate with carriers to prepare and submit detailed referral documentation.
  • Negotiate with broker partners to secure the best terms for clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and carriers to drive business growth and expansion.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff to ensure their growth and success within the team.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting or retail broking with a focus on construction.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and interpret complex information.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships.
  • Leadership qualities with a passion for mentoring and team development.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, including regulatory and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with TAM or Policy Works broker management systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for broker visits and meetings.
  • Have or working towards CIP Designation.
  • Have or willing to obtain RIBO License.
