Job Summary

The Royal Conservatory of Music is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ARC Ensemble. This is a part-time, 12-month contract position that requires approximately 25 hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the implementation of the ARC Ensemble's mission and vision, in collaboration with the Artistic Director and the President's Office.
  • Schedule rehearsals, recordings, and performances, ensuring seamless coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the logistics of national and international touring, including travel and accommodation arrangements.
  • Assist the Artistic Director in artistic and strategic planning, with a focus on the 3-year term.
  • Coordinate the production of two annual ARC Ensemble concerts in the Mazzoleni Masters concert series.
  • Support the Artistic Director in outreach efforts to secure local and international performance dates, including contracting and fee negotiation.
  • Manage the website and social media channels of the ARC Ensemble, in collaboration with the Artistic Director.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to develop and implement the ARC Ensemble's communications plan.
  • Research and follow up on potential engagements with series and festival presenters.
  • Manage budgets and process expenses and invoices.
  • Identify and develop potential funding and sponsorship opportunities, in collaboration with the Development department and the RCM Board Members.
  • Support the integration of ARC and RCM projects, in consultation with the Artistic Director and the GGS Assistant Dean, Academics.
  • Act as a liaison for the inclusion of GGS students and Rebanks Fellows in ARC's performances and recordings.
  • Support the Artistic Director in providing input, drafting, and reviewing news and PR releases.
  • Research, draft, and prepare fundraising proposals and grant applications, as required.
  • Handle the submissions process for ARC recordings to be considered for potential GRAMMY and Juno award nominations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in music or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of performing arts administration and/or management experience in the arts and culture/performance sector.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ease and comfort in meeting and working with visiting personalities, professionals in the industry, sponsors, recording and broadcast companies, film distributors, and government agencies.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Solid analytical and research skills, with a high degree of initiative and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience with various social media platforms.
Salary Range
  • $25,000 - $27,500 per annum
Additional Information
  • This is a part-time, 12-month contract position that requires approximately 25 hours of work per week.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with the RCM's building in Toronto, Ontario.
  • Availability to support events during evenings and weekends is required.
  • Some involvement in working at off-site performances as well as in-house events as required.
