Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled and compassionate Part Time Caseworker to join our team at the Brantford Booth Centre. As a key member of our social services team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in need and helping them achieve stability and independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain an active caseload and provide individualized support to clients.
  • Conduct intakes and assessments to identify client needs and develop personalized plans.
  • Provide problem-solving and referral counseling to clients, connecting them with community resources and services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and other Salvation Army departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Design and implement evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of our programs and services.
  • Provide assistance to front desk personnel as needed, responding to client issues and crises.
  • Record activities and incidents in a factual and concise manner using log books and incident occurrence reports.
  • Contact emergency services when necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to client and staff confidentiality policies.
  • Work closely with supervisors and other team members to achieve program goals and objectives.
Working Conditions

This is a permanent, part-time position with 15 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required, and the work schedule will be determined in consultation with your supervisor.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • University or college diploma in social services or a related field.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community-based resources and services.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Competent in word processing software, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to work with socially disadvantaged individuals and develop effective relationships.
  • Ability to work with federal release clients to develop and implement life plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and implement goals and plans for self and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under supervision.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Enhanced Reliability Screening with Corrections Canada is required.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
