About the Role

CB Canada is seeking a Project Manager to oversee our Wind Independent Engineering team. As a leader in renewable energy consulting, our organization has established a strong reputation for providing independent engineering services that facilitate the financing and construction of wind energy projects across North America. Our experts are recognized as industry leaders, and in this role, you will play a critical part in delivering technical consulting and independent engineering services to wind project developers, financial institutions, and investors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and coordinate the technical review process with internal specialists across various disciplines, including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessments, and turbine technology.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews, focusing on contracts and financial models (OPEX and CAPEX).
  • Compile and coordinate input from technical specialists to produce comprehensive due diligence reports.
  • Engage with project developers and lenders/investors to discuss and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Develop proposals for services related to due diligence work and secure project scopes.
  • Oversee construction monitoring activities, including conducting site inspections to assess progress.
  • Prioritize quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) considerations to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Support clients through the financial closing processes of their projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Wind Independent Engineering team, focusing on process refinement and lessons learned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, construction, or project management, with at least 1 year in the wind sector; or 2 years of experience in technical or financial reviews within the wind industry.
  • Familiarity with energy industry technologies and contracts, as well as a solid understanding of budgets and financial models.
  • Strong project management and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Ability to work in various conditions, including climbing wind turbines and navigating construction sites.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear technical reports and effectively communicate complex issues.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying risks and developing solutions.
  • High integrity and professionalism, ensuring a rigorous and fair review process.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in wind industry construction contracts, project operations, or turbine technology.
  • Previous work with utility owners or purchasers of wind projects.
