Aiolos is an engineering consulting firm, designing and producing advanced testing facilities in the Aerospace and Automotive sectors. We are headquartered in Toronto and deliver to a global market.


We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer (PE) to join our team. The successful candidate must:


  • Ensure that the project team successfully executes the technical obligations for a given project on time and within budget.
  • Independently direct and control the engineering and design activities of the project team and be prepared to mentor any team member as needed.
  • Demonstrate complete independence on all technical matters, leading and directing all tasks during the site phases.


Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare the complete work plan engineering and design elements and contribute to all other elements in support of the PM.
  • Prepare the project technical risk assessment, management, and mitigation plan; regularly review, manage and control the technical risk for the project procedures and the design intent
  • Oversee the preparation and approval of and establish procedures for controlling and reporting costs for all engineering/design phases. For post-design phases, the Senior PE contributes recommendations and forecasts (to the Project Manager when assigned), for controlling costs related to test facility equipment sourcing, integration and performance
  • Main Technical focal point for supporting the PM (where applicable); the Senior PE shall independently author any number of wind tunnel equipment technical specifications; contribute to RFQ / RFPs initiatives, review technical proposals, and assist in selecting suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Coordinate the delivery, installation, interfaces and start-up requirements for test facility equipment, resolving all ‘issues’ and deficiencies.
  • Prepare the facility Operating and Maintenance Manual(s), including the assembly of all suppliers’ documentation.
  • Effectively communicate any scope of technical content directly with the client, owner, or Others (e.g. architect, engineer, JV partners)
  • Oversee the preparation of project schedule engineering and design content; monitor and control the design phases schedule, report progress (to the PM, where assigned); contribute to the procurement, fabrication and site phases planning (in cooperation with the PM where assigned).
  • Oversee the development of project design criteria and the production of internal and external deliverables; ensure sign-off is obtained for deliverables.
  • Organize and chair regular design progress meetings and reviews; document minutes and sign offs, issues etc. as needed. Keep PM informed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation
  • 10+ years experience in engineering and project management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Extensive travel is required, Internationally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project Planner (scheduling).
