You will be joining a leading energy provider in Ireland, located in North Dublin. This organization plays a crucial role in the Renewable Projects division within the Engineering and Major Projects sector, offering project management and engineering services that support renewable energy generation for both internal and external clients. Their portfolio includes a variety of renewable projects such as onshore wind, offshore wind, solar photovoltaic, and battery storage. Projects range from large-scale offshore wind farms exceeding 1GW to smaller solar and battery initiatives. This position is primarily based in the North Dublin office, with opportunities for both domestic and international travel.

Your new role

This position entails collaborating closely with Asset Development to:

  1. Advance projects as the business case develops.
  2. Navigate projects by assessing risks and opportunities.

Wind energy is recognized as a pivotal component of the organization’s strategy to boost renewable generation capacity to 5GW by 2030. Projects are anticipated to be sourced from various avenues, including development opportunities and acquisitions. Given the diverse requirements, the Engineering and Major Projects (EMP) team will devise adaptable solutions to meet these needs while responding to a dynamic environment.

You will be tasked with establishing and nurturing relationships with project personnel (Project Managers and Technical Leads), as well as Supply Chain, Procurement, and Commercial teams. Engaging with discipline leads and key stakeholders (both internally and externally) will be essential to gather critical technical and commercial inputs for levelized cost of electricity (LCoE) models. You will spearhead LCoE analysis for offshore wind project configurations, which will involve coordinating and/or executing specialized analyses for:

  1. Layouts
  2. Energy yield analysis (EYA)
  3. Transportation & installation (T&I)
  4. Operation & Maintenance (O&M)

in collaboration with discipline leads. Additionally, you will oversee and conduct cost benchmarking exercises using estimation tools for development expenditure (DEVEX), capital expenditure (CAPEX), and operational expenditure (OPEX) in partnership with technical leads. You will also be responsible for procuring, mastering, and developing a comprehensive understanding of modeling software packages, managing all interactions with software providers.

What you'll need to succeed

We are eager to connect with candidates who possess:

  • A primary engineering level 8 degree in a relevant field and/or pertinent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a comparable role, with a solid understanding of the commercial and technical dimensions of project design and construction.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a proactive approach, taking ownership and accountability for assigned work packages.
  • Prior experience in cost estimation, a grasp of offshore wind project lifecycle costs, and an understanding of cost reduction drivers. An MSc or Chartered Engineer status is advantageous but not mandatory for this role.
