Primary Function: Responsible for the installation, configuration, support, and maintenance of Halifax Water's applications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- Collaborate with various Business Units to ensure their needs are thoroughly documented.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of application configurations and architecture.
- Stay updated with current industry trends, best practices, and procedures.
- Plan and execute tasks related to the implementation of new application initiatives.
- Consult with the Enterprise Architect to ensure the Enterprise Architecture remains current.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Plan, test, and manage the rollout of new features.
Operational Management
- Address break/fix issues promptly using the Halifax Water ticketing system.
- Install, configure, upgrade, maintain, and document the application environment.
- Ensure adherence to best practices.
- Implement security best practices and follow Halifax Water policies to safeguard corporate data.
- Create and maintain workflows as necessary.
- Develop/update sites, lists, libraries, templates, themes, site definitions, content types, GIS Services, etc.
- Ensure synchronization across all environments (DEV, QA, PROD).
- Conduct upgrades, testing, and patch management.
- Monitor system performance, including disk space usage.
- Track all change requests related to the applications.
- Manage all tickets associated with the application.
- Coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Generate custom database reports.
Training
- Stay current with required training for supported applications.
- Provide training to staff on application usage.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geomatics, Geography, or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as an Application Administrator.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Operating System environments.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Familiarity with fundamental ITIL principles.
- Experience in administering business applications.
- Experience with GIS solutions for business applications.
- Proficiency in SQL.
Other Requirements:
- ITIL Foundations certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified (e.g., MCSE, MCSA) or GIS Professional Certification (e.g., GISP).
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Willingness to undertake and maintain safety training, including First Aid and Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
